Warm Up & Stretching

You do not need a hall, or large area to practice Karate. I have recorded a few videos which will hopefully help you practice at home in a smaller area.

Make sure when practicing at home, there are no people/objects too close to you, and if you are a child you must be supervised by an adult. When practicing weapons, I recommend that it is done in the garden, or an outdoor safe area, and extra special care is taken.

Please excuse the quality of the videos, I filmed them outside the garages next to my house due to social distancing…

Warm Up

Before starting. you should do a warm up.

This gets the blood flowing through the body faster, raising your heart rate and loosens your muscles up. It is also good exercise to help keep fit.

I recommend that you repeat ‘Warm Up 1’ a minimum of twice.

Stretching

You must also stretch your muscles. This prevents injury and makes you more flexible.

Squats

Squats are great exercise and they build up leg muscle. Keeping active can be difficult while we’re all on lock down, so use this video to help you.

Be very careful when practising rolls. You must have a safe area, a soft floor and if you are a child, be supervised by an adult.
